Team Walker students graduate from the Saturday STEM Program at the Liberty Science Center

On Saturday, Feb. 9, Team Walker students graduated from the first cohort of the Saturday STEM MakerLab Program at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City. The day included plenty of learning and fun alike, and it served as a way to celebrate Team Walker students completing their first cohort. It was a privilege for Team Walker to team up with Liberty Science Center, a highly credible organization, yet again to provide an education for the children of Jersey City.

The program helped introduce students to a series of technical, scientific, engineering, and art processes through small “mini-projects” which culminated into one final project. The goal of the program, which ran for free each Saturday from September to February, was to help students engage in STEM-related activities in order to promote higher learning in this field for Jersey City youth.

Team Walker has always placed a significant emphasis on STEM studies, and we are happy to continue partnering with the Liberty Science Center to help achieve our common goal. The hands-on process given by the Liberty Science Center over the past number of Saturdays has been invaluable to the children of Team Walker, and the knowledge attained will always follow them throughout their academic lives.

The graduation ceremony, which included the students’ families and Team Walker’s very own Debra Rice, marked the end of the first cohort. The second cohort of the Saturday STEM MakerLab Program began on February 16, 2019. There is still space available for students in Grades 4 through 8 to register. Please call the Team Walker Learning Center at 201.433.1888 for questions and inquiries. Current Team Walker students will receive registration priority.
