Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Ray

This week’s spotlight of a Team Walker team member is Mrs. Shelldeane Ray, one of our fourth-grade teachers!

Mrs. Ray is one of Team Walker’s many outstanding teachers. She joined the team in 2014, and at the 2018 Evening of Dreams, she was given the Robin Cunningham Award for Teacher of the Year. As a distinct honor given out only once each calendar year, it shows how committed Mrs. Ray is to empowering the students in the program with the Team Walker ideals of dedication, determination, and discipline.

Through this mantra, Mrs. Ray is able to run an efficient, yet fun, classroom. Although she and her students always come and go from the classroom with a smile, it is all business within to make sure that the children are receiving a proper education. Whether it is through multiplication tables or making slime, Mrs. Ray always finds a way to spice up the learning experience and make things enjoyable for her students!

Some of Mrs. Ray’s favorite activities to do with her students are the ones that involve the most hands-on work. These include sewing, crafting, other life-skill ventures, and our healthy eating lessons with America’s Grow-a-Row.

As for future plans, Mrs. Ray says that she wants to go back to school to receive her degree in elementary education.

Thank you for all of your hard work in enriching the minds of the Team Walker children, Mrs. Ray!
