The Sixth Annual Team Walker Golf Outing will take place on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the legendary Somerset Hills Country Club in Bernardsville, NJ. The outing starts with a luncheon at 12 noon followed by a round of golf at 1 p.m. To end the day, cocktails and bountiful hors d’oeuvres will be served starting at 5:00 p.m.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Team Walker foundation to instill its “vision to create a program that provides safe and constructive alternatives to the negative influences that plague inner city youth.”
“I am very excited to once again have the opportunity to host this event at the prestigious Somerset Hills Country Club”, explained Jerry Walker, the CEO and Founder of Team Walker. “Events such as the Team Walker Golf Outing help us to create and fund our programs, while simultaneously offering a wonderful time for all involved. We hope to see many of our friends and supporters out on the fairways on July 13, golfing to benefit the youth of Jersey City.”
The field is limited to 48 golfers who are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants are asked to RSVP by Monday, June 28, 2010 by calling (201) 939-8601 or by submitting the response card. The cost per golfer is $1,250 and the non-golfers Cocktail Hour is $100. Checks should be made payable to “Team Walker and mailed to: Team Walker Golf Open, P.O. Box 294, East Rutherford, NJ 07073. Credit Cards are also accepted.

Team Walker was founded in 1996 by Jersey City natives Jerry and Jasper Walker. Jerry and Jasper aspired to give Jersey City children the same after school programs they enjoyed and benefited from while growing up. The Walker brothers knew these programs helped them mature academically, and also provided them with an athletic outlet for their basketball abilities.
After graduating from St. Anthony High School and helping the Friars win a mythical national championship, Jerry Walker enrolled at Seton Hall University and was instrumental in helping lead the Pirates Men's Basketball team to three trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Jasper Walker was the all-time leader in assists for the St. Peter's College basketball team when he finished playing, and is member of the St. Peter's Hall of Fame.
Jerry and Jasper are thankful for the opportunities that were available to them as they grew up and are now devoting their lives to creating positive and uplifting alternatives for the youth of Jersey City.
